About Michael McMahon
Michael McMahon is a certified public accountant. He serves as an executive vice president of portfolio management and the director of tax at RXR Realty, a real estate development and management company based in New York.
RXR provides investment and property management, financing, design, development and construction services for commercial, residential and mixed-use properties located in the metropolitan area of New York and the surrounding tri-state regions. RXR’s current portfolios include 71 commercial properties worth approximately $20.5 billion under management, 2,500 residential units under development, as well as 3,700 multi-family unites under development control and for sale. Members of its multidisciplinary team bring their experience in real estate investment, management and operation to secure desirable deals and deliver risk-adjusted returns to RXR's investors.
McMahon has been with RXR for over 22 years, first as a vice president at Reckson Associates Real Corp, RXR’s predecessor, where he started the tax department of the company. As a New York-licensed CPA with extensive experience structuring tax-efficient real estate transactions, McMahon supervises all tax matters for RXR’s real estate operations. Currently, he also manages a portfolio partially owned by a public Australian company.
Before his tenure at RXR, McMahon worked as a senior tax accountant at EY’s real estate group, where he advised on REIT and partnership taxation matters.
McMahon holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the College of Staten Island and an MBA in taxation from Baruch College. He currently serves as a member of the Real Estate Roundtable’s Opportunity Zone Working Group and provides comments to the U.S. Department of Treasury.
