About Michael Bailkin

Michael Bailkin is an attorney. He serves as New York-based of counsel for the real estate group of Akerman.

Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Akerman has 25 offices in over 10 states and in Washington, D.C. With a history dating back nearly 100 years, Akerman is known for its expertise in middle-market mergers and acquisitions and complex disputes. Its team of over 700 attorneys advises clients from various sectors, including energy, financial services, health care, life sciences, hospitality, IT, real estate and construction.

Akerman’s scope of service includes general corporate legal matters, consumer financial services, bankruptcy and corporate reorganization, government affairs, intellectual property, employment law, taxation and litigation.

At Akerman, Bailkin focuses his practice on real estate project structuring and economic development incentives. He advises developers and landowners on the utilization of feasible incentives. He is particularly conversant with zoning regulations and incentive programs in New York and the mid-Atlantic region.

Bailkin has successfully structured and implemented development incentives and rezoning actions worth more than $3 billion. Some of his notable projects were for J & R Music World.

Prior to joining Akerman, Bailkin managed his own legal practice, Stadtmauer Bailkin, in New York. He has extensive experience in the public sector as well. He served as general counsel at the mayor’s office of development and deputy general counsel at the budget bureau for the City of New York.

Bailkin has received multiple accolades from prestigious organizations in the industry, including The Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 and Super Lawyers.

Bailkin holds a bachelor’s degree from Temple University, and a master’s degree and juris doctor from the University of Chicago.
