About Melissa Oka

Melissa Oka is a tax attorney at Perkins Coie LLP, an international legal advisory with headquarters in Seattle, Washington and 34 offices in the U.S. and Asia.

Established in 1912, Perkins Coie practices in a wide range of legal sectors, including commercial and corporate law, environment and natural resources, estate planning and trust services, finance, intellectual property, employment law, real estate and land use, government affairs and litigation. With extensive experience in commercial finance transactions, Oka advises public and private companies, financial institutions and private equity funds on secured and unsecured revolving credit and term loan facilities, senior and subordinated debt financing, mezzanine loans and defeasances. She also represents developers, property owners and operators of hotels and resorts in the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, ownership and management of their assets. Oka is experienced in the New Markets Tax Credits and the Opportunity Zones tax regime. She assists both regional and national clients in the efficient use of tax credits and incentives.

Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Oka served as a finance associate at Mayer Brown LLP, an international law firm.

Oka holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University.
